Keep Price Stable, Government Apply Three Strategies

On the same occasion, Pakde Karwo said, the government guarantees the price of basic needs remain stable, especially in the fasting month until the upcoming Hari Raya Lebaran. To that end, the government has set up three strategies to maintain price stability.
First, the provincial government in cooperation with Bulog Jatim to prepare as many as 116 outlets in markets throughout East Java. The outlets aim to keep the supply of basic necessities in the market, so the price of basic necessities does not rise due to the scarcity of materials.
Secondly, Pakde Karwo continued, in cooperation with the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU), East Java Regional Military Command (Kodam) and Satgas Pangan (Satgas Pangan), checked directly to the storage warehouse of staple goods. The goal is to ensure there is no hoarding, profiteering too much, or other cheating practices by importers.
"We are all checking, do not let there is an importer who takes profit too much in this situation. For example garlic, sold Rp. 28 thousand, but if sold Rp.21-22 thousand is a good profit. So we make sure the level of profit or margin is logical "he continued.
The checks, said the number one man in East Java province, is also intended to obtain valid information related to import prices, warehouse costs, and prices released into the market.
"After meeting the price, then poured in agreement between businessmen, provincial, TNI, Polda, and the Satgas earlier," he said.
Third, Pakde Karwo added, the government conducted market operations and provided subsidies on freight, labor costs, and packaging costs so that basic commodities could reach the market or Distributor 4 (D4). "If in Surabaya, D4 is Pasar Darmo Trade Center, Cotton Krampung, and Pucang Market. This we fulfill everything "he added.
On this occasion, Plt. Head of Department of Industry and Trade of East Java, Drajat Irawan added that in addition to these three strategies, the Provincial Government also encourages producers, distributors and business actors to conduct market operations independently.
"We also encourage the movement of low-cost markets, already 38 districts / cities that declare its ability to hold a cheap market simultaneously. So we term it all out and do the operation "broom of the universe" so that the price of basic needs in East Java remain stable "he said.
